About
What is Soundacruz?
Soundacruz is a free, community-driven festival of audio arts held at the Loma Prieta Community Center on Summit Road in the Santa Cruz Mountains. On September 5, 2026, artists, musicians, composers, and sound experimenters come together to share their work with anyone who makes the drive up into the redwoods.
There are no tickets, no wristbands, no cover charge. Just sound, community, and one of the most beautiful settings in the Bay Area.
Inspired by Sound Pedro
Sound Pedro is a celebrated audio arts festival in the San Pedro neighborhood of Los Angeles. Every year it brings together experimental musicians, noise artists, electronic composers, and sound sculptors for a DIY, community-organized day of free public listening. Soundacruz is our tribute — and our own take on that model, shaped by the landscape and community of the Santa Cruz Mountains.
The Place
The Loma Prieta Community Center sits in the heart of the Santa Cruz Mountains, surrounded by second-growth redwoods along Summit Road. It's the kind of place that feels removed from the noise of everyday life — which makes it a fitting home for a day spent listening carefully to the sounds people make. The mountains have always attracted people who do things their own way. Soundacruz fits right in.
The Sound
Soundacruz welcomes all forms of audio art: acoustic and electronic music, free improvisation, field recording, drone, noise, generative systems, sound sculpture, and anything in between. If it makes sound and you made it, you're welcome here.
